Technology consultant or fractional CTO and CPO?

Choose between advice on a specific decision and ongoing responsibility for product priorities and technical delivery.

Choose a consultation when you need help with a defined decision. Consider fractional CTO and CPO support when product and technology decisions keep coming up and someone needs to coordinate them over time.

A non-technical business does not need to become a software company to benefit from either. A new customer portal, an ecommerce expansion or a stalled internal system can create the need. The useful question is who will make decisions and follow them through.

When a consultation is enough

You might need to compare supplier proposals, assess a product idea, choose a platform or define the first version of a system. A focused engagement should have a question, the evidence needed to answer it and a concrete output.

At DodaCraft, that output is written recommendations and next steps. The business retains responsibility for acting on them. If your team already has someone who can manage the work, ongoing leadership may add little value.

What CTO and CPO responsibilities mean

ResponsibilityTypical decisions
Product direction, or CPO workWhich customer problem to solve, what to prioritise and how to assess the result
Technology direction, or CTO workHow to build or buy, which systems to connect and which technical risks need attention
Delivery coordinationWho does the work, what blocks progress and which decisions need the owner’s approval

“Fractional” means an agreed part-time commitment. It does not mean unlimited availability or an entire development team. Decision rights, meeting time and responsibilities should be written down.

What ongoing work could look like

A starting month might include reviewing customer needs and the current systems, agreeing priorities, evaluating a supplier proposal and reviewing progress with the team.

Expect usable outputs: a prioritised plan, recorded decisions, an owner for each action and a list of unresolved risks. Recurring meetings are only useful if they help make and follow through on those decisions.

How DodaCraft scopes the two options

Product and technology consulting costs €100/hour. The ongoing partnership starts from €3,000/month and includes 40 hours total across product and technology responsibilities. Those hours are shared, not 40 hours for each role. Additional work is agreed separately.

Agree how the time is divided between analysis, meetings, supplier coordination and reviews. Development work and response expectations also need an explicit scope.

What should you prepare?

  • The decision or recurring problem you need help with.
  • The people and suppliers currently involved.
  • The budget, deadlines and existing commitments.
  • Who can approve priorities and changes.
  • The result you want from the first month or consultation.

If you cannot yet tell which arrangement fits, use the free 30-minute introductory call to define the need. A specific decision is often enough to start with.
